Info Cheile Nerei

The hydrological network includes the basins of  Nera river and of its tributaries Nergana, Nergăniţa, Coşava, Helişag, Miniş Lapusna, Moceriş, Ducin, Prigor, Rudăria, Bania, Şopot, Valea Rea , Bei, etc. On the territory of the park ,there are two natural lakes: Lacul Dracului(The Lake of the Devil) , a karst  unique phenomenon in our country, with an area of about 700 square meters and a maximum depth of  about 12 m,and  Ochiul Beiului with an area of 284 sq m,3,6 m maximum .

 Nera River has a length of 131 km;it springs from the Semenic mountains , under Piatra Gozna Peak  (1447 m) and it  flows into the Danube. Inside the park, after it crosses  the depression of Almaj from North -East to South -West, near Şopotu Nou , Nera changes towards North -West.
